Hey folks, exciting news ahead! Disney+ has finally announced the premiere date for the television adaptation of Rick Riordan’s “Percy Jackson and the Olympians” series. Today, the streamer unveiled a brand new teaser for the series, officially confirming that Season 1 will kick off on December 20, 2023, on Disney+. The premiere will feature the first two episodes, followed by weekly releases on Wednesdays. The teaser and release date announcement come in celebration of Percy Jackson’s birthday, giving us all the more reason to rejoice!

In “Percy Jackson and the Olympians,” the titular characters follow a 12-year-old boy named Percy Jackson (played by Walker Scobell), who leads a relatively ordinary life—unless you count being attacked by a teacher who turns out to be a monster, and oh, his teacher is a centaur. No big deal. So, when Percy’s mom Sally (played by Virginia Madsen) discovers a huge secret, she spills the beans: Percy is a demigod. Armed with this newfound knowledge, Percy heads to Camp Half-Blood to live with other demigod children of gods. However, after being accused by Luke Castellan (played by Dylan Redmon) of stealing his lightning bolt, Percy finds himself entangled in an impending war on Olympus. With the help of his new friends Grover (played by Aryan Simhadri) and Annabeth (played by Leeh Savvidou), he embarks on a journey across the United States and the Underworld to prove his innocence and uncover the real thief.

While the latest teaser is just 30 seconds long, it packs a punch, leaving viewers eagerly awaiting December. It starts with a shot change as Percy arrives at a location presumably close to Mount Olympus. Based on actual show footage, the teaser promises an epic adventure by hinting at glimpses of mythic characters who become integral to Percy’s journey, alongside the series’ overall scope. Additionally, viewers witness Annabeth and Grover displaying their heroism by slaying monsters on their journey. As everything unfolds, Percy’s mom’s voiceover reveals his true identity as a Greek demigod, followed by Zeus hinting at his and other gods’ anticipation.
