The report of sexual abuse linked to Russell Brand has come months after Katy Perry’s divorce.

British actor and comedian Russell Brand faced allegations of rape and sexual assault involving four women during the peak of his popularity between 2006 and 2013.
The Times of London and Channel 4 Dispatches exposed these shocking allegations in a joint investigation published on Saturday.
One of the alleged victims, Nadia, claimed that Brand sexually assaulted her in July 2012 at his home in Los Angeles, just months after she divorced pop icon Katy Perry, whom she had married in October 2010, at a lavish ceremony in a tiger sanctuary in India.
On the same day as the alleged assault, Nadia went to a rape crisis center, and her medical records were cited as evidence in the report.
Another woman claimed that Brand groomed her and sexually abused her when she was just 16 years old. She stated that Brand referred to her as a “child” even though she was 31 at the time and endured physical abuse during their “emotionally abusive and controlling” relationship that lasted for three months.
Brand and Katy Perry divorced in December 2011, only 14 months after their wedding, when Brand sent her a text message asking for a divorce. Katy Perry later went on to perform on stage.
Perry told Vogue in 2013 that she had not heard from Brand since then and revealed that she didn’t enjoy being his “boss” and that he was “really controlling and… very jealous.”
The “Dark Horse” singer, now a judge on “American Idol,” first met Brand in 2009 when she was doing a cameo in his film “Get Him to the Greek.” After reuniting in a 2009 MTV Video Music Awards interview, they began dating. They married in a grand ceremony in India.
Brand filed for divorce from Perry, citing “irreconcilable differences” in his divorce papers filed with the Los Angeles Superior Court. He then dated British socialite and film producer Jemima Khan.
Before the report came out, on Saturday, Arthur actor Russell Brand released an online video denying the allegations.
He said, “Outrageous, salacious claims, totally, that is the truth.” He mentioned that these claims are from a time when he was “very, very promiscuous,” which he wrote about extensively in his books.
He also said, “The relationships I had were always consensual, entirely consensual.”
