Kim Kardashian’s Instagram Post

Kim shared a picture of herself next to a scanning machine and captioned it, “I recently got this @prenuvo scan and wanted to tell you all about this life-saving machine. The Prenuvo full-body scan can detect diseases like cancer and aneurysms in their early stages before symptoms even appear. It’s like getting an MRI without any radiation. It has truly saved the lives of some of my friends, and I just wanted to share… no ads.”

Kim’s Claims About the Benefits of a Full-Body Scan

According to a BuzzFeed report, Kim’s caption was not entirely accurate, as Prenuvo is not the same as an MRI scan; it’s an MRI-based scan. Based on a report by, there is no radiation involved in any MRI scan, as images are created using magnets and radio waves.

As per Prenuvo’s website, Kim Kardashian’s scan revealed findings related to disc herniation, musculoskeletal conditions, fatty liver disease, and multiple sclerosis. The cost of this scan is $2,500, and it takes approximately 60 minutes to complete.

Reactions to Her Post

In recent weeks, Kim Kardashian faced criticism for promoting an expensive screening process. Responding to her Instagram post, some people called Kim “tone-deaf,” while others debated the benefits of a full-body scan. A solitary individual expressed, “Kim, this is tailored for the affluent. Most people can’t afford it right now.”

Another commenter said, “This is very odd. Most people in America can’t use this machine. The fact that she’s promoting medical devices that cost thousands is quite amusing.” A third person jokingly said, “She likes recommending preventive care to billionaires who are completely inaccessible to 98% of her fan base.”

Doctors Do Not Recommend Full-Body Scans

Kim Kardashian has not yet responded to the feedback. However, the majority of the medical community advises against getting a full-body scan for several reasons.

According to a statement by the American Academy of Family Physicians, “Whole-body scanning carries the risk of false-positive findings, which may result in unnecessary tests and procedures, including positron emission tomography (PET) and computed tomography (CT) scans, both of which carry a significant risk of radiation.” There has been little increase in the likelihood of detecting cancer later in life and a significant increase in medical costs as a result of these procedures.

Screening can be invasive, anxiety-inducing, and time-consuming. “At first glance, the notion of conducting routine full-body scans appears quite appealing; after all, who wouldn’t want to detect potential issues at an early stage? The issue is that scans often find minor abnormalities, and we’d need further testing to determine what those abnormalities are,” explained Dr. Ilana Richman, a researcher at Yale Cancer Center and Assistant Professor of Medicine at Yale School of Medicine, to Healthline.
