On Saturday evening in New York at the Albee Awards, Meryl met Anne. While the 74-year-old actress was seen in an elegant all-black ensemble, complete with a stunning black top and pants, Anne Hathaway sported a vibrant green gown with silver accents and paired it with silver jewelry and a silver handbag.

They greeted each other warmly, exchanged smiles, and engaged in conversation. Paparazzi couldn’t resist snapping pictures of them. One fan account even created a collage juxtaposing Meryl’s full blue pantsuit from 2006 with Anne in a pearl white knit top and deep blue denim.

The film was adapted from Lauren Weisberger’s 2003 novel of the same name by screenwriter Aline Brosh McKenna. Meryl played the role of a fierce fashion magazine editor, while Anne portrayed an aspiring journalist who became her assistant. The role of the present-day assistant was played by Emily Blunt. Stanley Tucci also starred as Miranda’s husband. The film earned a whopping $326.7 million at the box office.

While Meryl currently appears in “Only Murders in the Building” Season 3, Anne will next be seen in “Mothers Instinct.”
